The Solution is our Custom 3D Printed Display Shelves
If you’re a collector, you know the struggle. You spend months hunting down a rare 100% Bearbrick or completing a LEGO Star Wars Minifigure set, only to realize that standard retail shelves are either too deep (hiding your figures in shadows) or too tall (wasting precious wall real estate).
Standard shelving is designed for books and vases. Your collection deserves something better.
That’s where the STLPlayground Custom Wall Shelf Builder comes in. We’ve designed this tool to move away from “one size fits all” and toward “perfectly scaled”.
Tailor-Made for Your Grail Pieces
Because our builder is parametric, you can design for the exact footprint of your favorite collectibles:
The LEGO Minifigure Grid: Standard shelves are usually 150mm–200mm deep. That’s a waste! Set our builder to a 35mm depth to create a sleek, low-profile “floating” strip that keeps your Minifigures front and center without sticking out into the room. You can maximize the number you can display by keeping the dimensions just right.
The Bearbrick Tier: A 100% Bearbrick stands exactly 70mm tall. With our builder, you can set your vertical clearance to 75mm, allowing you to stack multiple rows of shelves with military precision. No more awkward gaps!
Action Figure Heavyweights: For 6-inch scale figures (like Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black Series), you can increase the thickness of the shelf base within the builder to ensure there’s zero “filament sag” over time.
Pro-Tip: Lighting and Material
To really make your display pop, we recommend printing in a Matte Black or Matte White PLA. This reduces glare from your room’s lighting, making the colors of your LEGO or Bearbricks the stars of the show.
Collector’s Hack: Since you control the dimensions, you can print shelves that are the exact width of your LED light strips, allowing you to hide the wiring directly behind the 3D-printed bracket.
Functional Art for Your Walls
3D printing isn’t just about utility; it’s about customization. By using the Custom Shelf Builder, you aren’t just “organizing”—you’re building a modular gallery.
Whether you need a single 50mm ledge for a rare “chase” figure or a massive 500mm span for a fleet of ships, the tool generates the STL in seconds. No CAD degree required.
How to Build Your Display:
Measure your “Grail”: Grab your calipers and measure the base of your figure.
Input Dimensions: Head to the Shelf Builder and add 5mm of “breathing room” to your measurements.
Print & Mount: We recommend using 3M Command strips for the lightweight LEGO shelves or standard dry-wall screws for the heavier Bearbrick setups. You can add mounting holes in the builder for the best fit.
