Interactive 3D Gridfinity Label Builder (Custom Text & Icons)

Tips for 3D Printing Your Custom Interactive 3D Gridfinity Label Builder (Custom Text & Icons)

Create fully customized 3D printable labels for your Gridfinity bins using this interactive builder. Turn your messy drawers into a perfectly organized system with clear text tags, visual emoji icons, and secure snap-fit clips. The face-down print orientation features minimal structural arms and perfect 45-degree meshing, making it incredibly easy to print, read, and attach to your existing bins.

What You Can Create With This Gridfinity Label Builder

This tool allows you to design personalized organization tags for many different uses, including hardware sorting, tool categorization, and desk storage. With multiple attachment modes and dual icon engines, you can create the perfect labeling system for your workspace.

Angled Snap-On Bin Labels (45°)

Generate easy-to-read labels that snap perfectly onto the top lip of standard Gridfinity bins. The builder automatically generates a 45-degree reading angle with thin, material-saving structural arms.

  • Hardware sorting (screws, nuts, bolts)

  • Electronic component organization

  • Desk drawer quick-read tags

  • Battery size indicators

Vertical Clip-On Tags

Create low-profile labels that sit flush against the inside or outside walls of your bins. Perfect for taller bins or shallow drawers where angled labels might catch on the frame.

  • Deep-bin divider tags

  • Toolbox silhouette labels

  • Side-mounted bin identification

Flat Adhesion Panels

The classic flat plaque experience. Create a beautifully detailed flat photo panel with a smooth back designed specifically for gluing or double-sided tape.

  • Custom labels for non-Gridfinity boxes

  • Drawer front identification

  • Tool wall organization tags

Customization Features

  • Three distinct attachment modes: Flat, Vertical Clip, and 45-Degree Angled Clip

  • Dual icon engines: Choose between Noto Monochrome (clean geometric cuts) or Twemoji (layered depth)

  • Adjustable Gridfinity unit scaling (1U, 2U, 3U, etc.)

  • Adjustable base thickness and text depth for perfect contrast

  • Customizable bin wall thickness tolerances for a perfect snap-fit

  • Custom clip drop lengths for deeper or shallower grip

  • Instant STL file generation

How the Gridfinity Label Builder Works

  • Select your desired attachment type (Flat, Vertical Clip, or Angled Clip)

  • Type your desired label text and select an icon/emoji

  • Choose your preferred icon source (Noto Monochrome is recommended for the cleanest 3D prints)

  • Adjust the Gridfinity units, label height, and clip dimensions to fit your bins

  • Preview the final design in the interactive 3D canvas

  • Export the STL file and print

3D Printing Tips

Print Face-Down for Zero Supports

The 3D model is automatically rotated so the front text face sits perfectly flat on the build plate. Keep it in this orientation in your slicer to completely avoid using support materials.

Use a Color Swap (Pause at Height)

To make your text and icons pop, add a manual color swap (M600) in your slicer right after the base layers finish printing. Print the base plate in a dark color like black or navy, and swap to white or bright yellow for the text and icons.

Adjust the Bin Wall Thickness

If your printed clips feel too tight or too loose, use the “Bin Wall Thickness” slider in the builder. Bins printed on a slightly over-extruding printer may require a slightly wider clip tolerance (e.g., 1.7mm or 1.8mm instead of the standard 1.6mm).

Use a Fine Layer Height

For the sharpest text details and smoothest 45-degree angles on the clip arms, consider printing with a smaller layer height such as 0.16mm or 0.20mm.

Create Your Custom Gridfinity Label

Use the builder above to design a fully customized Gridfinity label. Whether you’re organizing a drawer full of M3 screws, categorizing your craft supplies, or labeling your batteries, this tool makes it easy to generate a unique, highly readable 3D printable design ready for your bins.
