3D Printing Tips
Print Vertically for Best Detail
Always print flat and box lithophane panels standing up on their edge (vertically), aligned along the Y-axis of your print bed to prevent wobbling. This allows your printer’s Z-axis resolution to capture the finest details of the image.
Use 100% Infill
To ensure the light passes through the plastic evenly and creates the proper image contrast, print your lithophane body with 100% infill (or set your perimeter wall count exceptionally high).
Choose the Right Filament
Pure white PLA, PETG, or specific “Lithophane White” filaments work best. Dark or highly translucent filaments will not show the image clearly when backlit.
Print the Base and Lid Separately
Because the base and top lid are separate, you can print them in a solid, opaque color (like black or wood-fill) to prevent light bleed, keeping the focus entirely on your glowing photo.
Use a Fine Layer Height
For the sharpest photo details, consider printing with a smaller layer height such as 0.12mm or 0.16mm.
