Create a custom printable pegboard hook with independent peg fit, rounded or angular hook geometry, and print-ready orientation.
Design a Custom Pegboard Hook for 3D Printing
The Pegboard Hook Builder lets you create a printable J-hook around the dimensions of your actual pegboard instead of settling for a one-size-fits-all model. Set the hole spacing, hole diameter, board thickness, fit clearance, hook reach, tip rise, thickness, and width, then export the model for slicing.
Fit the Hook to Your Pegboard
Standard hardboard pegboards are commonly built around 1-inch hole spacing and roughly 1/4-inch holes, but real boards vary. Measure your board before printing and use Fit Clearance to compensate for printer and material tolerances. A small test print is recommended before producing multiple hooks.
Customize the Hook for What You Hang
Use Hook Reach for deeper tools, cable loops, or accessories. Increase Hook Width or Hook Thickness when you want a more substantial part, and adjust Tip Rise to help keep the hanging item from sliding forward. The preview updates as dimensions change so you can inspect the proportions before export.
3D Printing Tips
Print orientation and layer direction matter for load-bearing hooks. Review the model in your slicer and choose an orientation that puts layer lines in a favorable direction for the expected load. PETG can provide useful toughness for workshop accessories, while PLA can work well for lighter indoor loads. Do not use a printed hook for safety-critical loads or where failure could injure someone.
Measure, Test, and Refine
Pegboard material thickness, hole diameter, printer calibration, extrusion width, and filament shrinkage can all change the final fit. Start with the measured dimensions of your board, print one hook, and adjust Fit Clearance in small increments until the attachment is secure without forcing the pegs.
